Scailable AI Manager on The Advantech ICAM-500
To ensure that our AI manager provides the fastest and safest modular AI pipeline on any supported device, we don’t take supporting devices lightly; we want to ensure full support of the whole platform, and we need to be convinced that the selected hardware tailors to edge AI use-cases. So, today we are happy to announce that we have added the Advantech ICAM-500 to our supported devices! (you may have gotten a sneak preview of this as we demonstrated the device during Embedded World…)

What’s the ICAM-500?
Advantech ICAM-500 series is “a highly integrated Industrial AI Camera that reduces installation and maintenance effort significantly. Equipped with programmable variable focus lenses, LED illumination, SONY industrial grade image sensor, multiple core ARM processors, and NVIDIA AI system on module, the ICAM, with the Scailable AI manager installed, allows for out-0f-the-box edge AI applications.”

Why does Scailable support the ICAM?
As you might have noticed, we are selective in the hardware we support. We need to ensure a highly efficient AI/ML pipeline, from I/O to model execution, on the full platform. Hence, the Scailable AI Manager needs to properly interface with all the hardware components on the device (accelerators etc.), and we need to be confident that the device is suited for specific edge AI solutions.
The ICAM-500 turns out to be an ideal device for vision-based edge AI solutions. A single device provides an integrated camera, lights, and sufficient processing for advanced object detection and image segmentation models.
